Robert Vargas English 1101 February 5, 2018 Professor Young “Do the Right Thing” Movie Response So Far Thus far, I have been enjoying the movie “Do the Right Thing”. It is similar to the way I pictured it when reading the script. The only thing that threw me off was Vito and Pino where in the movie they look older than what I had imagined. The same goes for Mother Sister where I had pictured her to look older than she appeared in the movie. I imagined her looking more elderly, more like an 80 year old with wrinkles and maybe glasses but in the movie, she doesn’t match that description. I feel a little bit of sympathy for Da Mayor. No one really shows him respect like Mother Sister or even the kids from the block. Ahmad called him a bum and a worthless drunk and from his facial expression in the movie, I could tell these words hurt him. Sure, the mayor shouldn’t be lazy and actually try to find a job and lay off the alcohol but he hasn’t done anything wrong from what I recall...

Does the script provide a point of doing the "right" thing?

Robert Vargas English 1101 January 29, 2018 Professor Young The Script on Doing the "Right' Thing Do the right thing is a very powerful film that can still relate to today's society with racism and conflicts between different ethnic groups within a community. Throughout the script we see the phrase, "do the right thing" and indeed the script provides a point about doing the right thing. According to the script I feel like the right thing to do is to analyze a situation and pick the best action possible to benefit or help out the problem at hand. In example when Da Mayor saw that Eddie was going to get hit by a car, he ran out and risked his life to push the kid out of the reckless driver's way. At the end of the script when Mookie bashed Sal's pizzeria window, he might've done so to keep the angry mob from potentially killing Sal and his two sons. They attacked the shop and not Sal, Pino or Vito which Mookie saw to be the right or better t...

My Favorite Sport To Play

Robert Vargas English 1101 January 24, 2018 Professor Young My Favorite Sport to Play Amongst the many sports out there, my all-time favorite has to be baseball. When I was 10 years old my dad introduced me to the sport where we would go to the park every weekend and play. From the beginning I loved the yankees because of their iconic players like Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez. I played through high school but stopped my senior year. Now that I am in college I hope to get back into it and play for the team at Fairleigh Dickinson. My only setback is that I commute to school everyday and live an hour away so making practices on the weekend would be a hassle for me. If I get the chance to dorm next year I will surely try out for the team.
